Children won't pick up collectible objects, or they drop them before they reach their destination.
The collectibles remain on the map for a limited time and can't be picked up if the object is about to disappear. If the object is not about to disappear, it usually helps to drop the child so that his feet land just above the item. If a sick or very slow child is chosen to retrieve the item, the collectible may disappear before the child can complete the trip to their destination. Rarely, children running with objects can run into huts or other obstacles, causing them to drop the item that they are carrying.
